In a world with increasing technology, games appeal to our age group more then movies. This of course is my opinion and otherwise pure conjecture but it is in a way, true. Lets look at movies first. They can be exiting, but they have absolutley no interactivity. Games on the other hand, they have to be interactive. Games are like movies you can control to affect the outcome. This is something a movie could never do.
When it comes down to the reason us "youngsters" like games so much... Well there are many reasons. They pass the time, they provide a sort of strees relief. Most of all however, they have a a main character who we can relate too, and as a plus, we can control them! How wiggity wack is that!
The winner is decided even before the battle starts. Movies may make more money, but when it comes down to popularity, games win hands down. New and innovative games like Resident Evil 5, Super Smash Brothers Brawl (best game ever) and Metal Gear Solid 4, attract old and new fans alike. Eventually, the big game companies will get thier innovative little hands on some shiney new technology. Whats next? Virtual Reality? I certainly hope so.
To conclude, movies and games exist for the same purpose; to entertain us bored humans. Any other purpose is outside the original design and purpose. It all comes down to taste in the end.
