In a world with increasing technology, games appeal to our age group more then movies. This of course is my opinion and otherwise pure conjecture but it is in a way, true. Lets look at movies first. They can be exiting, but they have absolutley no interactivity. Games on the other hand, they have to be interactive. Games are like movies you can control to affect the outcome. This is something a movie could never do.
When it comes down to the reason us "youngsters" like games so much... Well there are many reasons. They pass the time, they provide a sort of strees relief. Most of all however, they have a a main character who we can relate too, and as a plus, we can control them! How wiggity wack is that!
The winner is decided even before the battle starts. Movies may make more money, but when it comes down to popularity, games win hands down. New and innovative games like Resident Evil 5, Super Smash Brothers Brawl (best game ever) and Metal Gear Solid 4, attract old and new fans alike. Eventually, the big game companies will get thier innovative little hands on some shiney new technology. Whats next? Virtual Reality? I certainly hope so.
To conclude, movies and games exist for the same purpose; to entertain us bored humans. Any other purpose is outside the original design and purpose. It all comes down to taste in the end.

I agree with you on many of your points including that games are just more interactive, and we are in more control then when we are watching a movie, also games help you have fun with your friends. Plus you have to be silenced when you are at the movie theatre with your friends. If there was ever a virtual reality game, I would line up for days just like the other people when Halo 3 came out.
dude you're so cool.
I agree that games are more interactive than movies which make them funner and better. I disagree that games are a stress reliever though because when I can't beat a game it ends up stressing me out. All in all it was a very good blog post.

I agree with your decision. I think games win over movies because most games are made for mostly everyone unlike movies you have to be a certain age to watch a certain movie. Also, even a kid who's a year old can play games. Movies they can't watch because they won't understand it at all and there are so little movies for their age group. In today society, everyone now are being so anxious and get bored easily. One way they stop this is to play games since in movies they just sit infront of a screen and watch. While in a game they can actually have fun because they can control what a character does. Also, with the creation of the Wii, playing games are now so much better because you can interact with the game. This is my opinion of my games win over movies.
This is my favourite post in the commonly argueed Movies vs. Gaming topic. This is probably because of many reasons on your blog man. The words Wiggity Whack. The opinion of videogames>movies. But its probaby mostly because you say that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of the best games ever. Friend code after I get on track [-_-]
lmao...wigity wack! i think thats the best part of your whole post!
but your post was cool. most points are excepted by anyone who plays any sort of video game. there are some critics but the facts still remain and make video games more awesome!
You definitely have a valid point with the interactivity of games.
Well... wandered into here after finding out how bland all the posts are in Powell's side of the spectrum XD
I enjoyed reading your blog post, and it does provide some insightful (read: biased, yet no harm done) opinions on the argument. This coming from a fellow gamer: I salute you!
Gaming does indeed offer much more than movies from the aspect of interactivity, but don't forget, movies can also do things that games can't. It's up to personal preference, but it's also up to the pros and cons of each form of media.
